The choice of GP is made in connection with the issuance of your personal health insurance card. Your own GP will be the one to contact in case you get sick – also if it is acute. If necessary, the GP will refer you for further examination or treatment by a specialist or arrange for you to be hospitalised.
The GP’s openings hours are normally all weekdays from 08:00 to 16:00 with telephone hours from 08:00 to 09:00. Some GPs are also open till late one day a week. In case your GP is on vacation or is absent for some other reason, you will always be referred to another GP nearby. The address and phone number of your GP in printed on your health insurance card.
